Bio
Born in
Yonkers, New York, Steve started using a 35mm camera in High School when he
joined the camera club and became the school’s lead photographer. He continued
this interest in photography by graduating from college with a Photo Science
degree.
At that
time his focus was primarily concert photography. He photographed many of the
then current groups performing in the New York City area. These classic rock
concerts are dated from the late 60’s through the 70’s. Some of these images are
on the site now. These photos were primarily shot using slide film and Steve is
in the process of scanning these images to make them available on this site.
Steve
has always been a car enthusiast and auto racing is a primary interest. Attending
races at Lime Rock Racetrack in Connecticut in the mid 60’s then Watkins Glen
International in the early to late 70’s gave Steve the opportunity to combine
his love for photography with his racing interest.
Steve
received an Electrical Engineering degree from the Rochester Institute of Technology and has worked for Eastman Kodak in Rochester,
New York for over 29 years in the photographic engineering group. Steve first
transitioned to digital imaging in 1992 where he was involved in many of the
Kodak professional digital camera and scanner development programs. This early
involvement has given Steve a big advantage with today’s digital workflow.
Steve retired from Kodak and is now freelancing full time as a professional photographer. He and his wife, Jocelyn, started Highland Design Studio, in 1992.
