I am an automotive studio and event photographer and photojournalist based in western New York, just outside of Rochester. I photograph and write about many vintage races and concours events and photograph these incredible cars in my photo studio, located at Horsepower Motorworks, Victor, NY.

I am also a concert photographer with classic concert images dating back to 1969, during an incredible time on the music scene.

Born in Yonkers, New York, I started using a 35mm camera in High School when I joined the camera club and became the school’s lead photographer. I continued this interest in photography by graduating from college with a Photo Science degree.

At that time my focus was primarily concert photography. I photographed many of the then current groups performing in the New York City area and beyond. These classic rock concerts are dated from the late 60’s through the 70’s. Some of these images are on the site now. These photos were primarily shot using slide film and I am actively is in the process of scanning these images to make more of them available on this site.

I have always been a car enthusiast and auto racing is a primary interest. Attending races at Lime Rock Racetrack in Connecticut in the mid 60’s then Watkins Glen International in the early to late 70’s gave me the opportunity to combine his love for photography with my racing interest.

I received an Electrical Engineering degree from the Rochester Institute of Technology and worked for Eastman Kodak in Rochester, New York for over 29 years in the photographic engineering group. I first transitioned to digital imaging in 1992 where I was involved in many of the Kodak professional digital camera and scanner development programs. This early involvement gave me a big advantage with today’s digital workflow.

I retired from Kodak and I am now transitioned to freelancing full time as a professional photographer since 2008. My wife and I, Jocelyn, started Highland Design Studio, in 1992.

My current portfolio includes, event photography at the Le Mans Classic in France, the International Nissan Z convention and I have been the Official photographer for Brock Yates’ One Lap of America since 2003 through 2019.  I have been on assignment shooting most motorsport events including; Formula One, CART, IRL, Sports Car, Pro Rally and Vintage races, and the Le Mans Classic. I have traveled across the U.S. and Europe for these assignments.

I am currently a senior photographer and writer for Vintage Motorsport Magazine covering such events as Amelia Island Concours, SVRA and special articles on vintage shops and garages.

I am a member of the national organization, ASMP. (American Society of Media Photographers) (www.ASMP.org). FYou can find me under "Find a Photographer"
